The Narrow Path

“I’m a Christian”

This is something I hear quite often leaving the mouths of many people. But what I realised is many people just seem to think its just a title and not a lifestyle. I used to be one of those people. You get to a point where you realise faith without work is dead. So it was about time I lived according to the word. Yes you may say you believe in God but does your lifestyle match your words “I’m a Christian”? The bible scriptures below talk about faith without works.

James 2: 14  says this “ What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?”

James 2: 17 – In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless

This is basically self explanatory that faith without actions means nothing hence why so many of us say Actions speak louder than words. This is where a lot are at fault. Many Christians today are religious. Christianity is a relationship between You and God. What are you doing to protect it? If your lifestyle is saying higgy hagga and you do what you want. You cannot be a disciple of God. We must deny ourselves daily and follow Christ ( Matthew 16:24,Luke 9:23). Going to church alone isn’t enough I’m afraid.

You do not want to reach the gate of heaven for the Lord to tell you he does not know you. The fire in hell is very hot. God despises people who are lukewarm, Read Revelations 3:15-16.

Revelations 3:15-16 says “‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

You either are for him or against him (Matthew 12:30), There is no middle ground and you will not enter the kingdom with lukewarm-ness (if that’s even a word) by following the things of the world. The bible says those who love the world do not have the love of the Father is not in you ( 1 John 2:15-16). And often when we conform to the things of this world causing us to compromise The word. The same way you deny him. He will deny you ( Matthew 10:33)

Being a Christian isn’t easy. It is the narrow path, on the way you’ll be met by many obstacles. occasionally you can get lost or decide you want to follow the broader road but that easy road will lead to your destruction.  Always look ahead there is a brighter future and The Lord and Holy Spirit will be there to guide you on your journey. Having a prayer journal helps, devotional books, there are many things out there that can help you get closer to the Lord but your main guide is his word. The bible.

Lastly Faith without action means nothing. Its like going to an exam without doing any revision and believe that you’ll somehow pass and get the best grade. Accept the Lord as your Lord and personal Saviour and live according to his word.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven” – Matthew 7: 21.

Make sure that you’re not the one left behind. We are nowhere near perfect but we must aim to be like Christ everyday. It wont be easy but He who endures to the end shall be saved – Matthew 24:13.

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. – Matthew 7:13

Which path will you choose? The Broad or the Narrow
